2. Unpacking Fasoul Q1 and First Impression
There are two things in the package: the Q1 device and the instruction book. I am surprised by the size of the Fasoul Q1 as it’s only a little bit larger than a box of matches. It’s much smaller than an iPhone and feather-weight indeed.

3. How to Use Fasoul Q1?
Like Geek Bar disposable vapes, the Fasoul Q1 apparently arrives partially charged. Maybe my colleagues had charged it in advance and I appreciate it. The first step should always be to read the instruction manual.
(1) How to Read the Fasoul Q1 Instructions for User?
Unfortunately, some careless users throw away the instruction manual with the packaging and harass the after-sales support team afterward. If you do so, you can download the Fasoul Q1 instruction manual from Fasoul’s official website.
As mentioned above, HNB devices are popular in Japan. So the instruction manual is available in both Japanese and English. The Fasoul Q1 instruction manual covers the device’s structure, usage instructions, and troubleshooting. It explains how the battery indicator, puff countdown, and session-time countdown work.
(2) Check the Battery Status and Recharge First!
No matter it is recharged or not, check the battery status first is always rules of thumb to make sure your sticks are heated completely. Press the button once and you will see a pentagon, which is the battery icon. The button is at the bottom, opposite the stick hole and next to the Type-C charging port.
If you read the instructions carefully, you will know that each segment of the pentagon-shaped icon indicates how many sticks Fasoul Q1 can cook with the current battery level. If the battery icon (pentagon) flashes, this means that the battery is low and you should recharge it before use.
(3) Fasoul Q1 Preheating
It’s pretty simple and intuitive. Insert the “special stick” with the filter end out. Press and hold the button for 2 seconds. Fasoul Q1 will vibrate once and display a 25-second countdown.
(4) Smoking
You will feel the second vibration when preheating is complete. Two countdowns will appear. One shows the number of puffs available, and the other shows the 245-second session timer. Either countdown hits zero will end this session.
4. How to Use the Same Stick Twice with the Fasoul Q1?
The second use of the same smartcore stick (二回吸える)it’s kind of a hidden feature of Fasoul Q1, as it is not mentioned in the instruction book. I found on Fasoul’s official website that you can use the same stick twice.
All you need to do is rotate the stick 180 ° and repeat the heating process.
5. Fasoul Q1 Performance: First Session and Second Use
(1) First Session
I was a chain smoker, so the puff countdown reached zero first. The smoke is not dense at first but becomes denser gradually. I chose the tobacco-flavored stick and it tastes not like traditional cigarettes. It is common for most HNB devices with sticks. To me, all IQOS tobacco sticks taste like pan-fried pumpkin seeds.
The instruction book says you can take 16 puffs but almost the 10th puff feels burnt for me.
(2) Second Use
The second use is OK. The smoke is much denser and closer to the cigarette smoke, but its flavor became dull despite resembling toasted pepitas. The burnt taste is gone, but it tastes like expired cigarettes I had to smoke during the COVID-19 lockdown.
6. Conclusion
To be honest, HNB devices have never been an option for me because of their weak aerosol and dull flavor, no matter what stick or device I use. The Fasoul Q1 is slightly above average because of its long-lasting battery, stable performance, and bonus second-use heating feature. If you are interested in this one, you can have a try.
